Translate text to Morse code and Morse code back to English instantly. Play audio sounds, copy outputs, and learn Morse code characters.
Morse code is a historic telecommunications format that translates text letters, punctuation, and numbers into sequences of standardized signal pulses. These signals are written as dots (short tones, called "dits") and dashes (long tones, called "dahs"). Our online translator does this conversion instantaneously.
When you type English text, our script references standard international Morse code mappings to build the output. Letters are separated by spaces and words are separated by slashes (/) to help you distinguish between units. The built-in audio synthesizer leverages the HTML5 Web Audio API to play these signals back at standard speeds.
Step 1: Set Your Mode. Click "Swap Mode" above the input panel to toggle between converting English to Morse code, or decoding Morse code back into readable English.
Step 2: Input Your Characters. Type regular text or paste dots and dashes. Ensure you separate your Morse letters with spaces and words with slashes (/) for accurate decoding.
Step 3: Play Morse Audio (Optional). If translating text to Morse, click "Play Morse Audio" to hear the generated dots and dashes played back with clean, high-frequency audio tones.
Step 4: Copy Output. Click the "Copy" button in the upper-right corner of the output card to copy your translation to the clipboard.
Morse code is not just about the dots and dashes—it relies on precise ratios of duration and silence to remain intelligible:
