Extract text from scanned PDF documents or image files (PNG, JPG, WebP) online. Runs locally in your browser memory - your document contents remain 100% private.
Choose an image (PNG, JPG, WebP) or PDF file to run OCR.
Scanned PDF documents, photocopied forms, and image files contain flat visual content that cannot be searched or copied. Our OCR PDF tool scans your documents and recognizes text using Tesseract optical character recognition. It extracts the visual character outlines and turns them into searchable, selectable text layers, saving you time spent on manual typing.
Unlike traditional OCR portals that send your sensitive document scans to cloud servers, our tool runs the OCR process locally. By compiling the recognition scripts in WebAssembly, your computer processes the image scanning directly in the browser cache, keeping your files completely private.
Step 1: Upload the scanned PDF or image document you want to recognize.
Step 2: Select the document language to improve recognition accuracy.
Step 3: Choose the output format: either editable raw text (.txt) or searchable PDF.
Step 4: Click "Start OCR Processing" to run the local scanning engine.
Step 5: Review the recognized text in the editor panel and download your file.
